From 1985 -- 1992, Joel was the Resident Costume Designer for the Nannette Brodie Dance Theatre. While at the Massachusetts Repertory Theatre, he designed costumes for Mark Bramble (know for 42nd St. & Barnum) and Moby Dick: A Whale of a Tale, a Cameron Mackintosh Production. Then in New York, he designed costumes for "Off Broadway" and also constructed Broadway costumes at Parsons-Mears on Phantom of the Opera, Disney's Aladdin on Ice, Tommy Tune's Grease, Cats, Passion and others. Joel's recent Opera designs include, La Cenerentola for the Los Angeles Opera and Co-Produced with The Pittsburgh Opera and The Hong Kong Arts Festival, Macbeth for Opera Pacific, Lucia di Lammermoor at The Santa Fe Opera and Albert Herring for UCLA's School of Music. He also was the Costume Director at Opera Pacific for three successful seasons. In the summer of 2001, he went to the Savonlinna Festival in Finland as the Costume Production Manager for Don Giovanni and Salome. Some of Joel's recent award winning costume designs were seen on/at TV, Aquarium of the Pacific's: Long Beach, Occidental College, El Camino College, The Hudson Guild Theatre, Chelsea Repertory, and the West Coast Ensemble. |
